About the service

Is there anything The Moving Firm cannot move?

Yes. The law requires that we do NOT transport propane, gasoline, kerosene, or any flammable items. Guns, ammunition, and open liquids are also prohibited.

Can items be left in dresser drawers?

No. We advise that you take all items out of drawers and wardrobes and pack appropriately.

Does The Moving Firm offer packing?

Yes. We pack households, offices, and dorm rooms, just to name a few.

Can I do my own packing?

Absolutely!  We invite you to check out our blog for helpful moving tips.

What payment types are accepted by The Moving Company?

We accept the following methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Cashier’s Check, and Cash.  Sorry, no personal checks.

What is bill of lading?

The Bill of Lading serves as a written contract between you and the carrier, contains details of the shipment terms, and is normally signed prior to the move. It states contact and license information of the moving company, shipment information, services to be rendered, costs, dispute procedures, liability of carrier, and payment method.

What are binding estimates?

These provide you with the aggregate cost required to move your possessions, and is determined by weight, size, and services required. The Binding Estimate, like the Bill of Lading, is a written agreement. It is important not to confuse the Binding Estimate with the Final Move Price, as client adjustments may alter the cost of the move.

What are non-binding estimates?

These estimates are designated to give a general overview of what to expect regarding cost. There is no written agreement for a Non-Binding Estimate, and it is usually offered free.

What if some of my goods are damaged or missing?

Federal consumer protection regulations have made it compulsory for all carriers to have a claim process in place for solving disputes involving lost or damaged items.  Contact your moving specialist for details regarding the company’s dispute process and insurance guidelines.

How do I file a complaint?

To file your complaint, visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) @ www.protectyourmove.gov to obtain federal and state fraud enforcement resources.

What is the best time to move?

According to research, about 32 million Americans relocate in late spring. As a result, most moving companies are booked to capacity.  Consider moving in the off-season winter and pre-winter months, but if spring cannot be avoided, plan and book your move well in advance.
